China here we come!!

So last night Chrissy and I booked our flights to China!!!  We will both be leaving for Newark international airport on March 4th.  We will then stay in a hotel for the night and then depart from Newark at 12:15 on March 5th and arrive in Beijing on March 6th at 3:00pm.  It was very exciting and also very emotional.  It was a big step in the journey we are on.  It's beginning to feel more like a reality instead of a dream!!  We still have a long way to go financially, spiritually, and mentally but I know God is working and will continue to provide for our needs!!!  AnywayS, just wanted to let you all know what's up.  A more detailed update letter should be posted in the next day or so!!

Talk to you soon,

Merry Christmas!

Although part of my family was sick and in bed all day, we managed to celebrate my favorite holiday of the year.  Christmas is an awesome day that I believe should be celebrated with Joy as we visit with family, eat yummy food, and laugh as we remember Jesus' birth and how he became a man to die on the cross to cover us from sin.  Although I was able to experience all of these wonderful things throughout the day, I couldn't help but remember the orphans, widows, poor, and the hungry around the world.  What about all of the children without families who are starving on the side of the street in Ethiopia, China, Vietnam, and even in Florida?  What about all of the people around the world who do not know Jesus? I'm not here to give you answers or come up with the perfect resolution!  I don't have them.  The only thing I know is that I am a follower of the only true God who is in control of this world!!  And I have been commanded to bring His name to all nations, to defend the fatherless, and to be His hands and feet to those in need.  I can't help but think that I am the most inadequate person to play a part in such a huge task!!  There are many of you that agree or maybe you might even disagree but I am here to tell you that I can hardly remember where I last put my keys :)!!  Although I am inadequate I must also remember that through Him I am the farthest from it!

Matthew 28: 17-20

17When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

As we celebrate Christmas and the birth of Jesus I pray that we would also remember the life that he lived as he cared for the poor, the hungry, the widow, and the fatherless!

Merry Christmas!! :)

Children

Hey everyone,

As I was reading and studying some scripture today I came across a pretty familiar verse.  It's one that has recently become a big part of my life because it talks about Jesus and children.  Since I work with children now and have a passion for orphans I have been looking over this verse a lot lately.  What I didn't realize was that this same truth was written almost identically in two other passages as Matthew, Mark, and Luke reflect on what seems to be the same or similar occasions.   What a privilege I have been given to have the opportunity to welcome Jesus daily and to be able to continue this work as I move to China and serve His precious children in China.

Matthew 18:5

"And whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me;

Mark 9:37

"Whoever receives one child like this in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me does not receive Me, but Him who sent Me."

Luke 9:48

"Whoever receives this child in My name receives Me, and whoever receives Me  receives Him who sent Me; for the one who is least among all of you, this is the one who is great."

Quick Financial update!

Hey everyone,

So I continue to be super busy, so I apologize for the lack of update!!!

I have now raised approximately 7,300 in pledges and donations!!  This means I need to raise an additional 5,000 in order to make the move to Luoyang.  I will be hosting a big yard sale sometime in January and I am also scheduled to speak at my church.  Please continue to pray for our team and the children as our departure is now approximately 80 days away!!!  Thank you for your prayers and support!!
